The Jefferson Area Neighborhood Association has announced the creation of annual awards for historic preservation in our neighborhood. May is Historic Preservation Month and the theme for 2008 is This Place Matters.
The neighborhood association is concerned with preservation of quality of life in the neighborhood and encourages investment in residences and appropriate renovation or restoration of historic properties. Historic properties are designated as any property 50 years or older. That takes us back to 1958 and beyond.
Consideration is given to appropriate selection of materials and styles pertaining to the look of the property as it would have appeared at time of construction. Sensitive consideration of roof lines, door widths and window styles also apply to additions and garages.
An award of $50 goes to the award winners by courtesy
of Simonson Lumber Company.
Thanks also to Simonson Lumber Company for being a good neighbor.
