The Jefferson Area Neighborhood Association annually awards homeowners for Historic preservation of their properties. May is Historic Preservation Month and the theme for 2009 is This Place Matters.
The neighborhood association is concerned with preservation of quality of life in the neighborhood and encourages investment in residences and appropriate renovation or restoration of historic properties. Historic properties are designated as any property 50 years or older. That takes us back to 1959 and beyond.
Consideration is given to appropriate selection of materials and styles pertaining to the look of the property as it would have appeared at time of construction. Sensitive consideration of roof lines, door widths and window styles also apply to additions and garages.
Neighborhood business partner, Peterson Paint Supply, has gererously donated certificates good for two free gallons of paint to the award winners.
